For me Epicureanism is the subjective perspective of Eudaimonia. A life in agreement with oneself is a life without inner conflict, ataraxia, harmony. Epicurus divided all feelings in pleasure/ pain. Harmony is in core: Pleasure. The most sustainable form of Pleasure.

Weak minds are dominated by pleasure; strong minds dominate their pleasures.

To understand Epicureanism, look not only at its doctrine but also at its practice. Hedonists did not earn the reputation of "pigs" because of their doctrine, but because of their practice. (Pierre Hadot reminded that things forbidden by Epicurus in his doctrine were actually permitted in his Garden.)

Pierre Charron, as Michel Onfray observed, held that the abuse of pleasures could be harmful and recommended moderation—which makes Charron the predecessor of Ernst Jünger.

I wouldn't frame things in terms of domination.

Weak minds are deceived by pleasure and heed its demands; pleasure has power over them. In the case of strong minds, the opposite happens.

I have observed what I am telling you.

How would you phrase things?

Mastery is a better term in my opinion, but it's a matter of framing.

The same knowledge can be formulated differently, depending on the person who has gained it.
